Scraped Thin Film Evaporator — High-Efficiency Thin Film Evaporation and Separation Equipment

Product Overview

The Scraped Thin Film Evaporator is a high-efficiency evaporation and concentration system that uses rotating scrapers to form a uniform thin film on the heated wall. The material flows downward as a thin film under gravity and scraper action, achieving short residence time and high heat transfer efficiency. It is particularly suitable for processing viscous, heat-sensitive, fouling-prone, or foaming materials. Widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, environmental protection, and fine chemical industries.

Working Principle

Feed enters from the top of the evaporator and forms a spirally descending thin film along the heated inner wall under centrifugal and scraper action. Heating medium flows through the jacket, causing rapid evaporation of volatile components from the thin film. The generated secondary vapor is sent to a condenser for recovery or further treatment, while the concentrated material is discharged from the bottom. The scrapers continuously renew the liquid film, preventing fouling and coking, and significantly improving heat transfer coefficient and evaporation intensity.

Core Components

Rotary Scraper System: Consists of a main shaft and scrapers, ensuring uniform film formation and preventing wall fouling.

Heating Jacket: Provides heat for evaporation, using steam, thermal oil, or hot water.

Vapor-Liquid Separator: Removes liquid droplets entrained in the secondary vapor to ensure vapor purity.

Condenser: Condenses secondary vapor to recover solvent or water.

Feed and Discharge System: Enables continuous or intermittent feeding and concentrate discharge.

Product Features

High Heat Transfer Efficiency: Forced film formation and scraper renewal significantly increase the heat transfer coefficient and evaporation capacity.

Short Residence Time: Material stays in the heating zone for only seconds to tens of seconds, greatly minimizing thermal degradation.

Suitable for High-Viscosity Materials: Capable of handling materials with viscosities up to several hundred thousand centipoise without clogging or coking.

Strong Low-Temperature Evaporation Capability: Operates at low temperatures under vacuum, protecting heat-sensitive components.

Excellent Sealing Performance: Optional mechanical or magnetic seals for flammable, explosive, or solvent-recovery applications.

Compact and Easy to Clean: Small footprint, easy disassembly, and supports CIP cleaning.
