Product Overview

The floating head heat exchanger is a mainstream type of shellandtube heat exchanger, widely used in petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, newmaterial, energy and other industries. It performs heating, cooling, condensation and wasteheat recovery between two process fluids. One tube sheet is fixed to the shell, while the other end adopts a freely expandable floatinghead structure. The whole tube bundle can be pulled out to compensate thermal expansion difference between shell and tube bundle and eliminate thermal stress. It facilitates cleaning and maintenance on both tube and shell sides, serving as core heattransfer equipment for hightemperature, highpressure, largetemperaturedifference and foulingprone working conditions.

Working Principle

Cold and hot fluids flow through tubeside and shellside respectively. Tubeside medium enters heatexchange tubes from channel; shellside medium flows outside tubes inside shell. Heat transfer is completed through tube wall by convection and conduction. One tube sheet is fixed, and floatinghead end is unrestrained by shell, allowing free thermal expansion of tube bundle and eliminating thermal stress caused by inconsistent thermal expansion between shell and tubes. Baffles inside shell change fluid flow path to enhance turbulence and heattransfer efficiency. Tube bundle can be fully extracted for cleaning both inside and outside tubes. Temperature and pressure sensors monitor operating status in realtime to ensure heattransfer efficiency and safe operation.

Core Components

· Shell: Welded pressurevessel shell with shellside nozzles and supports, bearing shellside pressure and providing flow space for shellside fluid.

· Tube Bundle: Consists of heatexchange tubes, fixed tubesheet and floating tubesheet, core component for heat transfer; complete bundle can be pulled out from shell.

· FloatingHead Assembly: Comprises floatinghead cover, split ring and sealing elements, providing reliable sealing for floating tubesheet and allowing free thermal expansion to prevent crossleakage between media.

· Baffles & TieRods: Segment baffles support tubes and redirect shellside flow for better heat transfer; tierods fix baffle spacing.

· Channel Assembly: Front channel, channel flange and tubeside nozzles distribute tubeside fluid; multipass tubeside design is supported.

· Nozzles & Supports: Process nozzles, drain & vent ports and equipment supports for medium access, draining and installation.

· Monitoring Auxiliary System: Temperature & pressure transmitters, compatible with PLC/DCS for online process monitoring.
