Steel-Lined Plastic Storage Tank — Corrosion-Resistant Storage Solution

Product Overview

The steel-lined plastic storage tank is a composite vessel consisting of a carbon steel outer shell internally lined with a layer of high-performance engineering plastic (such as PE, PP, PTFE). This design combines the mechanical strength of steel with the exceptional chemical resistance of plastics, enabling the safe storage of various acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and high-purity media. It is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, metallurgical, and electronic chemical industries, serving as an ideal substitute for all-plastic or expensive alloy tanks.

Working Principle

The carbon steel shell bears all mechanical loads, including internal pressure, external pressure, wind, and seismic forces. The inner plastic lining acts as a corrosion barrier, preventing aggressive media from contacting the steel. The lining is bonded tightly to the steel shell via rotational molding, sheet lining, or spray processes, forming a continuous, pinhole-free anti-corrosion layer. The outer surface is coated for additional protection, ensuring long service life.

Core Components

Carbon Steel Shell: The structural body, welded from Q235B/Q345R plates, designed to relevant standards to provide overall strength and rigidity.

Plastic Lining: The anti-corrosion core, selected from PE, PO, PP, PTFE, ETFE, etc., based on the stored medium. Thickness typically ranges from 2 to 8 mm, offering a seamless, smooth, non-absorptive surface.

Manway and Nozzles: Manways, inlet/outlet nozzles, and instrument connections are provided; all internal wetted surfaces are lined to achieve full corrosion protection.

Level and Temperature Monitoring: Equipped with level gauges and temperature sensors with signal transmission for on-line monitoring.

Vent and Breather Valve: A pressure/vacuum relief device is fitted to balance tank internal pressure and protect the tank and lining from damage.

Product Features

Dual Advantage: Merges the pressure resistance and impact strength of steel with the excellent chemical resistance of plastics, suitable for a wide range of media.

Outstanding Corrosion Protection: The plastic lining exhibits high chemical stability, enduring long-term exposure to hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, and hydrofluoric acids, caustic soda, brines, and other aggressive chemicals.

Leak-Free Performance: The continuous seamless lining and lined nozzles eliminate the weak points of welded joints, significantly reducing leakage risk.

Long Service Life & Low Maintenance: Service life exceeds 15 years under normal conditions. The lining is repairable or replaceable, keeping total maintenance costs low.

Flexible Customization: Capacity, configuration (vertical/horizontal), lining material, and nozzle arrangement can be engineered to meet specific process requirements.
