Receiving Tank — The Core Buffer, Storage, and Separation Equipment for Process Fluids

Product Overview

The Receiving Tank is a critical pressure vessel used for receiving, temporarily storing, and buffering process fluids (including condensate, mother liquor, solvents, and gas-liquid mixtures) in industrial processes. Typically positioned at the rear end of evaporation systems, distillation units, or drying equipment, it balances flow fluctuations between upstream and downstream operations while performing preliminary gas-liquid separation or liquid-liquid stratification. Known for its robust sealing, excellent pressure-bearing capacity, and controllable storage environment, this vessel is a key unit for ensuring the continuous, stable, and safe operation of complete process systems.

Working Principle

Fluid (either two-phase or single-phase) from upstream enters the tank through the feed inlet. Inside the vessel, the fluid velocity drops sharply. Gas-liquid separation is achieved via gravity settling or internal baffles that knock out foam: gases are directed to the top vent for subsequent treatment or direct discharge; liquids accumulate at the bottom and are transferred out on demand by a delivery pump. For volatile or toxic media, the tank can operate in a fully sealed state under slight positive/negative pressure with nitrogen blanketing, ensuring zero-leakage environmental protection.

Core Components

Tank Shell: A vertical or horizontal cylindrical structure designed per GB 150 / ASME Section VIII standards, offering ample storage volume and structural integrity under pressure.

Gas-Liquid Internal Components: Includes feed buffer baffles, demister pads, or cyclone inlets that effectively suppress liquid splashing and mist entrainment, boosting separation efficiency dramatically.

Instrumentation Nozzle System: An integrated array of feed, liquid outlet, vent, drain, level gauge, and temperature/pressure transmitter connections supporting comprehensive automated monitoring.

Level Control Unit: Linked with a magnetic flap level indicator or differential pressure transmitter, it precisely regulates the liquid level via output control valves or pump interlocks.

Safety Accessories: Safety valves, rupture discs, or breather valves are configured based on operating conditions to prevent overpressure or vacuum collapse, guaranteeing absolute safety under extreme scenarios.

Product Features

Dual-Code Certified Construction: Strictly designed and manufactured to Chinese GB 150 and ASME Section VIII codes, with full material traceability and available regulatory inspection certificates.

Modular Connection Design: Equipped with multi-standard flanged connections (HG/T, ANSI, or DIN), ensuring seamless integration with vacuum pumps, condensers, and transfer pumps for immediate installation.

Sanitary Grade Option: For food and pharma applications, a fully-drainable, crevice-free sanitary polish design with complete CIP coverage is available, meeting GMP compliance requirements.

Multi-Functional Integration: In-line density meters, on-line pH probes, and sampling valve assemblies can be integrated on request, enabling storage, separation, and real-time quality monitoring in a single vessel.
